These 1-inch MERV 4 filters are basically ok. I am recommended by the installer to use low-resistance filters for my furnace. Decent 1 inch filters are hard to come by in local stores. So I went online. The build quality seems very sturdy as they are a single cardboard frame, not glued pieces like some others. The thickness is not 7/8" as noted on the dimensions, rather it is 5/8" or 11/16" so there is a lot of wiggle room in the installation slot. The filter surface area is smaller than others in that the cardboard crimping takes about an extra half inch on each side, so the filter reduces the volume of return air to the unit. Though, I am unsure if this really matters with a low-resistance filter. 1-inch filters are becoming so hard to find that I am considering having an HVAC tech convert the return to take a 4-inch filter.

Absolutely what I was looking for. Better flow rate and my system is operating more efficiently. I like this old school style filter. Last week I was complaining to the company who installed our new furnace about a year ago. The problem was the rattling of the heating unit and the noise came through the vents. I was told that I needed to get cheap filters with a very low MERV. (this is not listed on most filters). Evidently the furnace was having to work very hard to push the warm air through the more expensive, name-brand, (no MERV rating) filter. Now, with these newer filters, there is no rattling and the house is as warm as we want it to be, I am curious to see if the monthly heating fee goes down as a result of it not having to work so long and hard at one time. All filters should have a MERV rating on them. BTW the price for a year's supply is extremely reasonable.

Filter is very nice for my furnace. Air flows easier through it. I change my filter once a month. The shipping took a long time, 3 weeks before I finally received the filters. It usually is faster than that but was ordered close to the Holidays, so that could be why it took 3 weeks. Will purchase again. Mary ~ Illinois

You did an excellent job shipping. I suspect I purchased the wrong design but will take a month or so to determine how well it holds up in service. I should have studied the various alternatives better and bought a more heavy duty design. I have always used stronger designs with more re-enforcement but did not pay good attention. Assume what I have will be OK will just have to change-out more frequently, no problem. You gave excellent service on what I ordered. Thank you.
