I have our HVAC on auto and constantly recirculate air with windows closed year-round. I swap out one of these MERV 11 filters every 6 months. Very little dust and no one gets sick. Also, I have two UVA lights running 24 hours/day just above the A-coil in the furnace (i swap out both bulbs every 1000 hours). This set up works nicely for us.

I installed the filter just a few days ago, and it seems to be operating just fine. My first thought after the five minute installation was "where have you been all of my life?". My hope and expectation is that it filters as efficiently as the previous set up of an accordion filter and spacers that took at least an hour of frustration to install. If that is the case then the product is more than worth the slight increase in price.

If you have the old pleated element and comb spacers, this fits right into the plastic carrier without all the hassle and forms a nice airtight filter that is far better than the original. Good quality and MERV 11 is great for anyone who has allergies.
